It can be frustrating when you’re trying to get your dog to stop an unwanted behavior and you cannot get their attention. Why does this happen? Are there things that can be done to make it better? Here are some ways to get your dog to ignore you.

1. Repeat your dog’s name over and over.

2. Repeat cues over and over.

3. Ask for things and don’t reward.

4. Expect your dog to be able to respond in new environments like they do in old environments.

5. Bring low value treats with you in a high distracting environment.

6. Stay far away from your dog in new environments by using a long leash.
