Preventing Jumping

Writer's picture: Kevin DugganKevin Duggan

If you have a young dog, it's likely he or she likes to jump. The reason why a dog jumps is to get closer to a person's face. Of course, sometimes there is a ton of excitement involved which can mean that the jumping happens over and over and can even get out of control. There are lots of different things that can be done to decrease jumping. The technique demonstrated in this minute long video can help redirect a dog's excitement and decrease the jumping. The more rewards your dog gets for staying on the ground, the less jumping there will be.
