Most people have had a lot of experience with dogs. Most people also feel confident enough to give you advice if you ask or even if you don't ask for it. But how do you know what you're doing is the best way? And how do you know that the advice you've been given is the correct advice?
There are two main types of trainers to choose from. One that is up-to-date with their methods and is going off of current scientific studies, and one that is old school that bases their methods off of old studies and refuses to change their ways even when there are better ones available.
Hiring a trainer can be extremely helpful if you find the right one. The right trainer can make your life a whole lot easier by showing you the best ways to train, prevent and manage. I highly recommend it. Here are some things that a trainer can help you with:
-Coming When Called
-Walking Nicely on Leash
-Stopping Unwanted Jumping
-Helping With House Training
-The List Goes On!
I highly recommend that during your search for the right trainer you ask these 2 questions:
What happens when my dog does the right thing?
What happens when my dog does the wrong thing?
Here is a video of me answering the questions above.
